Introducing Fibrax Wrexham Roads Club

Fibrax Wrexham Roads Club is a friendly local cycling club which can trace its origins back to the early 1900s.

We currently have a membership of around 150, ranging in age from 5 to 80 years old, and our members range in ability from experienced racers to social riders.

Cycling is a broad church, and we have ambassadors within the club catering for various subsections, such as road & circuit racing, time trialling, cyclocross and mountain biking. We also have a flourishing Go Ride children’s section which is run by British Cycling trained and accredited coaches.

The club runs a series of evening time trials from May to September, at which novices and guest riders are welcome. We also run two classic open events: a mountain time trial in April and a hill climb in October, both centred on the Horseshoe Pass. The club also promotes a series of mass start road races at the Marsh Tracks facility near Rhyl, and hosts a round of the North Wales Cyclocross series at Alyn Waters Country Park.

Club members also organise social rides, informal training rides, a charity ride in support of Nightingale House Hospice, participate is sportives both in the UK and abroad, and also a few social events.

And of course, for those who like to taste their dinner twice, there is also an evening chain-gang!

The club is run by a committee of around a dozen members, who meet on the first Monday of the month, (usually in the Acton pub). Ordinary members are also very welcome to attend.

We are affiliated to The Welsh Cycling Union and therefore to British Cycling, Cycling Time Trials, and the West Cheshire Time Trials Cycling Association.

In addition to the above affiliations (which are required for racing) members also benefit from generously subsidised club kit made by Endura, and discounts on purchases from our sponsors Fibrax and Alf Jones Cycles. We are also grateful for sponsorship from DC Legal.
